Over the past week, there has a number of rumours on Korea-Canada FTA.
Knowing the sensitivity of this issue, in particular to the Korean Embassy in Ottawa, I will limit myself to introducing the following reports:
1. March 25, 2013: Globe and Mail reports the statement by Canada’s Finance Minister Jim Flaherty that Korea-Canada FTA is “very close”. See here.
2. March 26, 2013: Korean media (see here) and Globe and Mail (see here) reports officials of both countries denying that there has been any progress in the FTA negotiation. Reportedly, auto and pork are one of the issues that have not been thoroughly discussed.
In follow-up to these reports, Globe and Mail published an article on the FTA and its potential impact on Canada’s automobile industry on March 31, 2013 (see here)
