“In commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Korea-Canada Diplomatic Relations and the 60th Anniversary of the Korean War Armistice, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the City of Ottawa will officially announce the launch of “Korea Week” from Tuesday, June 25 to Monday, July 1, 2013.
The proclamation ceremony will be held at City Hall, while various cultural events will be organized across the city to provide Canadians with an opportunity to celebrate Korean culture and the ‘Year of Korea in Canada’.

The Korean Embassy will host its 4th lecture in the Embassy Speakers Series, which shares the insights and perspectives of some of Canada’s most prominent dignitaries who have long been engaged in Korea-Canada relations.

The Korea Week Proclamation Ceremony will consist of a flag raising ceremony to commemorate the events’ opening, an address by the Mayor of Ottawa, and various Korean cultural performances to celebrate the commencement of Korea Week.

In collaboration with the Canadian Film Institute and CineAsie, the Korean Film Festival will give Canadians a chance to experience and celebrate the wonders and beauty of Korean Film.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea will host a celebration of Korean Food in honour of “Korea Week”, where guests will be invited to experience the full wonders of Korean Food and Culture.
50th Anniversary Cultural Performances | Sunday, June 30, 18:30, Centrepointe Theatre
The 50th Anniversary Cultural Performances will consist of some of the best artists in traditional and contemporary Korean arts, such as B-boying, Taekwondo, Opera, Korean traditional music, and more.
50th Anniversary Cultural Performances on Canada Day | Monday, July 1, 14:00, Major’s Hill Park
The 50th Anniversary Cultural Performances team will perform at Major’s Hill Park in honour of “Canada Day” and take part in the celebration of Korea-Canada Relations.”
