I spend so much time lately thinking about what is it that really makes us happy. I find that most of the time the sensitive balance that gives us happiness is a very hard thing to comprehend and on other occasions we are able to find bliss in the simplest things. I wonder if on some level Choi Jeong Hwa has found through his art a way closer to the truth in this matter and if maybe, his view on this world, which allows him to find beauty in such mundane objects, should be a lesson for all of us in looking beyond the surface of things. I’m also sure that a good sense of humor such as his could not hurt either.
