Filming will begin this month from March 30 until April 12. Locations where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” will be filmed are near the Jamsil, Cheongdam and Mapo bridges, the Gangnam district/subway station (made famous by K-Pop singer Psy), Teheran Boulevard, Sangam Digital Media City, Incheon City, and Yongsan. “South Korea is the perfect location for a movie of this magnitude because it features cutting-edge technology, beautiful landscapes and spectacular architecture,” stated Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios and producer.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency believes filming in Seoul will be very beneficial to Korea, bring a boost to tourism, and shine a positive light on South Korea.
“We believe the film will contribute to the growth of local tourism and revamp the national image, so the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency fully supports the filming of Avengers here,” stated a spokesperson for the police agency. “We will do our best to manage the traffic according to the venue and time, so we can minimize possible discomfort for local citizens.”
The main cast of “The Avengers” which includes Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), and director, Joss Whedon, will all be returning for the sequel. There are many new characters and villains that are starring in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” with one of them being South Korean actress Kim Soo-hyun a.k.a. Claudia Kim.
The details about what character Kim will play are being kept quiet. This is due to her casting being a spoiler for the film. There are rumors swirling on the Internet that Kim will either play a villain, or a doctor who is treating Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man. Kim made a public announcement about her casting in the new film on her Twitter account @ClaudiaSKim.
“After a long wait, I’m happy to be back with great news. I have a lot to do ahead of me, but for now, the words ‘Welcome to the Marvel Universe’ are amazing and kind of overwhelming. I was a fan of Marvel Comics, and if you really like something, looks like fate can make it happen.”
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” will be released in theaters on May 1, 2015.
