The Embassy participates in Asian Heritage Month event in Gatineau

On Saturday May 24th, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean-Canadian Association of Ottawa participated in the Asian Heritage Month celebrations hosted by the City of Gatineau.

The event, which had a great turnout from the Asian communities of Ottawa-Gatineau as well as the diplomatic corps, provided an opportunity to showcase various cultural heritages of Korea including food, calligraphy, traditional clothes, as well as traditional and modern performances such as K-Pop and Hallyu culture. The lineup for the Korean cultural performers included K-Pop singer Shayne and Ottawa’s own Ottawa Hallyu Dance Team and Ottawa Korean Traditional Percussion Band.

It was also a meaningful event for the Asian communities and participants as the official ceremony began with a moment of silence for the victims of the Korean ferry, Malaysian airline, and Turkish mine tragedies.
