On Friday July 4, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Canada, His Excellency Cho Hee-yong, made an official visit to the province of Newfoundland and had meetings with Rotary Club members, provincial government and parliamentary leaders, and the Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Ambassador Cho met with Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly Chair of Committees Wade Verge, Senator Elizabeth Marshall, Deputy Mayor Ron Ellsworth, and Deputy Minister of Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture David Lewis to raise awareness of Korea-Canada bilateral relations among the leaders and garner support for the recently concluded Korea-Canada Free Trade Agreement, strengthen Korea-Newfoundland relations in various areas.
Ambassador Cho also gave a lecture on the bilateral relations between Korea and Canada including FTA agreement to Rotary Club in St. John’s east region. He visited the Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland to discuss a bilateral cooperation between two counties in fisheries and aquaculture.
