The President Pays Tribute at National War Memorial in Canada

President Park Geun-hye made a visit to the National War Memorial in Canada in the morning for the first event of the second day of her state visit. While there, she laid a wreath in tribute and expressed gratitude once again for the noble sacrifices and dedication of the Korean War veterans in Canada, the country that sent the third largest number of troops to fight in the war.
President Park made it clear to Minister of Veterans Affairs of Canada Julian Fantino and Mr. Bill Black, president of the Ottawa chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association, that she would redouble efforts to ensure sustainable peace on the Korean Peninsula and overcome the division.
The veterans in attendance gave a warm reception to the President and welcomed her visit, the first by a Korean President in 15 years. They expressed their gratitude to the Korean Government and people for not forgetting them and said they hoped the friendship between Korea and Canada, forged in the throes of war, would serve as a basis for the continued strengthening of bilateral ties.
