Korea Republic Men’s National Soccer Team defeated Iraq with a 2-0 win to book their passage to the finals of the AFC Asian Cup in 27 years. Thanks to #18 Lee Jeong-Hyeop and #19 Kim Young-Gwon who did the job for the Koreans, the Taegeuk Warriors moved a step closer to bring back home the title in 55 years dating all the way back to 1960.

Korea dominated the game, while #18 Lee Jeong-Hyeop headed the opening goal from a free kick launched by #3 Kim Jin-Soo in the 20th minute.

5 Minutes into the second half, Korea threw cold water on Iraq’s chase, when #19 Kim Young-Gwon scored an additional goal, a decisive one for the victory.

South Korea should wait until Tuesday, January 27th to know their rival in the final, which is going to be played in Stadium Australia on Saturday, January 31st. The hosts, Australia are to meet the United Arab Emirates (UAE), who kicked out Japan, the defending champions, in the last round. Uli Stielike, the coach of the Men’s National Team said, “Australia, I have no doubt about it,” when asked who he expected to win the semi final between Australia and UAE.
