The holiday season has been busy! Understandably, I’ve been caught in a whirlwind of activities that have kept me away from my e-blogging duties. I’ll be back in the New Year but until then, here are a few Korean TV dramas that revolve around food. Maybe these will inspire you to go and try some Korean food!
Witch Yoo Hee: a romantic comedy about an aspiring chef who becomes housekeeper/personal consultant to an evil businesswoman with a heart of ice (although at times, it is questionable whether she actually has a heart to begin with!) They say the best way to a (wo)man’s heart is through his/her stomach. So will his culinary skills melt her heart of ice?
Feast of the Gods: a drama about an intense rivalry between two women chefs trained in the traditional royal cuisine. It gives a glimpse into the rigour of cooking this particular type of cuisine, but also the visual beauty of its preparation.
Flower Boy Ramen Shop: a romantic comedy about a girl who owns a ramen shop who finds herself in a romantic triangle. Who will she pick?
Coffee Prince: a romantic comedy surrounding an error of identity. A very tomboyish woman is mistaken to be a man, and becomes involved with food empire mogul. She of course, falls in love with him. How to disclose her real identity?
Jewel in the Palace: Another drama about traditional Korean royal cuisine. This drama revolves around the struggles and achievements of a woman becoming the first royal physician.
These are just a few Korean TV shows, there are so many more. If you have a favourite, shout it out in the comment section. I’m always interested in hearing about a good TV show/movie about food.
Happy New Year to all!
