My name is Sharon and I’m one of the new bloggers this year. I’m very excited for this upcoming year to be writing here as @sharonjoyceee and (hopefully) showcasing all of my experiences with Korean culture in Canada.
I’m an undergraduate student currently studying at McGill University in Montréal, Quebec, but I was originally from a suburb of Toronto, Ontario. I was introduced to this blog by my BFFL @emmamcorso and have since then been obsessed with reading it.
Growing up, I have always loved sports (which is PERFECT for this year because of Pyeongchang 2018, and World Cup 2018), and have been on my school teams for basketball, soccer, volleyball, varsity rugby, softball, and badminton. Outside of school, I have done competitive Taekwondo, which I had to BEG my parents to let me join, but I succeeded in the end! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to finish with a black belt because I had to focus on school…
a brief history
Back in 2010, during a ski trip with my family, my cousin showed me the music video of Girls Generation’s ‘Gee’, and I was immediately HOOKED. From then on, my interest in Korean popular culture began to grow, with the introduction to Big Bang (Haru Haru) and expansion to K-Dramas (City Hunter and Dream High to name a few), and then eventually their beauty products.
sharing is caring
My blog posts will probably be pretty eclectic, focusing mostly on food, popular K-culture (beauty, dramas, music), and sports (the Winter Olympics and World Cup for you soccer fans out there!).
My personal goal for this year is to incorporate more media in my posts and be able to share all of my Korean experiences with you guys, and maybe even getting recommendations from you for things to try as well. I love meeting new people and I can’t wait to get to you know you all as well!
What are you most excited about this year?
