With the further explosion of the Hallyu Wave, Korean cuisine and night life have also become huge in Canada. In Edmonton, several Korean eateries, noraebang karaoke places, bingsoo joints, have popped up as well.
Out of them all, however, reigns Hanjan.
Hanjan takes a little piece from Korean restaurant, cafe, and night life culture to create a little slice of Korea within Edmonton.
Starting with the decor, it feels like patio season all year long inside. This is very important as our winter lasts for 4 to 5 months. The aesthetic is perfect for Instagram photos as well.
The menu is extensive as well. Some of my personal favourites are the mandu, bulgogi fries, cheese buldak, gochujang samgyupsal, teriyaki doobu, and the boneless chicken.
As for their coffee menu, you can enjoy a classic matcha latte or you can get adventurous with a charcoal or turmeric latte. My younger brother really enjoys their Italian soda as well.
Their desserts are also to die for. Hanjan has Edmonton completely smitten for the classic Honey Butter Bread, though the bingsoo is a close second.

My brother probably loves Honey Butter Bread more than he loves me.
They are open until midnight on Sunday, Tuesday to Thursday. On Friday and Saturday they are open until 3 AM which offers plenty of time for karaoke and a little bit (or a lot) of soju (and makgeoli and maekju).
One can even book the upstairs area with the karaoke rooms for private events, like I did pictured above for my 23rd birthday party!
Follow them here on Instagram, and make sure to stop by next time you are in Edmonton!
